Краткое описание

This paper is devoted to the research and development of the advanced nanotechnology design of grooved heat pipes (GHPs) with a thin porous layer (TPL) on their inner surface. Nanotechnologies have a strong impact on the hydrodynamic and heat transfers found in some heat- and power-generating devices. As an object for the investigations, high thermal performance GHPs, manufactured by Thales Alenia Space (France), have been chosen for this study. The coating was designed to improve the cooling capability of GHPs with trapezoid grooves. The tested samples are ammonia/aluminum heat pipes. The GHPs are 1 m long with an external diameter of 12.2 mm. The main goal was to validate through tests the thermal behavior of the GHPs with and without a porous coating on the heat pipe groove surface. It was found that a porous coating on the evaporator significantly contributes to improved GHP thermal performance; on the condenser, however, it has the opposite effect.
