The Impact Factor measures the average number of citations received in a particular year by papers published in the journal during the two preceding years. 2017 Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate Analytics, 2018) IF: 0.6 The Immediacy Index is the average number of times an article is cited in the year it is published. The journal Immediacy Index indicates how quickly articles in a journal are cited. Immediacy Index: 0.6 The Eigenfactor score, developed by Jevin West and Carl Bergstrom at the University of Washington, is a rating of the total importance of a scientific journal. Journals are rated according to the number of incoming citations, with citations from highly ranked journals weighted to make a larger contribution to the eigenfactor than those from poorly ranked journals. Eigenfactor: 0.00013 The Journal Citation Indicator (JCI) is a single measurement of the field-normalized citation impact of journals in the Web of Science Core Collection across disciplines. The key words here are that the metric is normalized and cross-disciplinary. JCI: 0.14 SJR: 0.201 SNIP: 0.313 CiteScore™:: 1.2 H-Index: 13

Краткое описание

This paper presents investigation of the flow field of a new type of rib geometry (round edged with slit) mounted transversely on the bottom wall in a rectangular duct. Flow characteristics were measured using the two-dimensional particle image velocimetry (2D PIV) technique. The objective of the present work was to study the combined effect exerted by the rounded edge along with a longitudinal continuous slit (parallel and converging) and to develop an understanding of the fluid flow characteristics. Experiments were carried out for flow over a rib with 14.5% blockage ratio and 10% open area ratio. Three different rib configurations having a converging slit angle of 0°, 5°, and 10°, respectively, have been considered. The 0° slit ribs corresponded to parallel slit ribs. The PIV measurements have been performed in a vertical plane at a Reynolds number of 6200 (based on hydraulic diameter) and three different values of rib pitch to height ratio (5, 10, and 15). Overall, the emphasis is placed on investigation of the flow structures and their dynamics in the interrib region in terms of time-averaged streamlines, mean velocities, coherent structures, and fluctuation statistics. The results show that the flow coming out from a slit significantly affects the magnitude of the streamwise velocity, fluctuation statistics, and vorticity. Further, a significant reduction in the size of the primary recirculation bubble as well as the absence of small eddies just behind the ribs are observed. Reduction in the reattachment length is also detected for converging slitted round edged ribs as compared to parallel slit round edged ribs.
