Краткое описание

Flow visualization inside a combustion chamber of a rapid compression machine (RCM) was realized by a new technique. This method is based on observation of the movement of burning coal particles ignited during piston motion. The continuous combustion time of particles made it possible to analyze the distribution of their velocities and thereby to investigate the formation and destruction of gas-dynamic flow inside the compression cylinder. The advantage of this technique is the simplicity of realization and data processing. It can be used to study the aerodynamics of the inside of combustion devices.
