Краткое описание

In this paper, I describe an expanded context for addressing values, ethics, and morality in the teaching, training, and the practices of science, engineering, and medicine. This expanded context not only recognizes the importance of emotion in ethical decision-making and moral behavior, it is also based on its primacy. In addition, I introduce the concept of "moral emoting" as an antecedent to "moral reasoning." Moral emoting enables a process of engaging with and receiving emotional response so that reframing and reflection can take place. The paper concludes by discussing the implications of adopting such a context.
