Краткое описание

Muscular injury is the loss of muscle function caused by damage of varying severity that compromises the structure and function of the affected segment and, in more severe cases, individuals and their daily tasks. Treatment is usually through the use of medicine, but in recent years, new therapies have been used to replace or reduce the use of drugs, which can cause side effects. Studies in animals allow more viable analysis than clinical studies. This study aimed to perform a systematic review of literature data on muscle inflammation in experimental models using animals treated with photobiomodulation. This review was conducted in concordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol. A systematic literature search of studies performed before June 20, 2016, was conducted in the following databases: Cochrane Library, China DATABASE, Google Scholar, EMBASE, and PubMED. The extracted data were analyzed using Review Manager software (version 5.2). A total of 127 studies were found, of which eight were included in the final sample. Photobiomodulation effectiveness was observed on muscle regeneration, damage reduction, inflammatory process reduction, oxidative stress markers, and muscle fatigue; however, there was no significant association between inflammatory cell count and blood lactate levels. The results show effectiveness in the treatment of muscle injury; however, more studies are necessary to understand the influence of different parameters of irradiation equipment on biological processes.
