The modified Reynolds equation governing fluid film pressure is derived for the problem under consideration. The modified Darcy's equations for the flow of conducting couple-stress fluid in the porous media are utilized. The expression for the steady-state characteristics (pressure and load carrying capacity) and dynamic characteristics (stiffness coefficient and damping coefficient) are obtained. The results show that the steady load-carrying capacity, dynamic stiffness, and damping coefficient increases for the bearings lubricated with MHD couple-stress fluid as compared to corresponding Newtonian case. The effect of permeability is to decrease the steady-state load-carrying capacity, dynamic stiffness coefficient, and dynamic damping coefficient. These effects are marginal for the conducting fluids. Results are compared with that of solid case and non-magnetic case.
