AB The diffraction of an electromagnetic wave by a co-axial junction of two rectangular waveguides of different cross-sections is treated within a version of the Schwarz method. An explicit formula is derived for the k-th iteration of the complex reflection coefficient of the TE_{01} mode. The absolute value of the reflection coefficient is calculated numerically for a variety of magnitudes of the α/λ parameter, and the algorithm convergence is analyzed.
