Three main classes of models have been identified: Empirical/Semi-empirical models, Film models and CFD models. It is felt that the disadvantages of the empirical models that drive current design techniques could be overcome by using more reliable film based modelling techniques in the future. The adjunct of analytical models and CFD techniques might prove to be a formidable combination in providing rigorous solutions to design and troubleshooting problems in general. %8 2004-07-28
