Краткое описание

Adequate modeling of thermal radiation is an essential tool for the analysis of combustion systems. For this purpose an accurate way to evaluate the total absorption coefficient of participating molecular gases is of extreme utility. A combination of the exponential wide band model, of Patch mean absorption coefficient and of the picket fence model is used herein to do so. Since this model depends on the path length, three different ways to calculate this parameter for the control volumes of a computational mesh in an axisymmetric furnace are tested and assessed. It was found that the resulting flux distribution is very sensitive to the path length used and that the best way to calculate it is to use a weighted harmonic mean of the axial length, radial thickness and mean radius of the control volume.
