On the Thermal Characteristics and Response Behavior of Residential Rotary Regenerative Heat Exchangers
Краткое описание
A mathematical model, based on the finite difference approximation has been developed for computer simulation of the thermal response behaviour of an air-to-air rotary heat exchanger. This model recognizes the nonlinearity of the system associated with the mutual coupling between the heat and mass transfer processes. The effect of the circumferential heat conduction in the solid matrix is introduced. This model is capable, therefore, of portraying the two-dimensional quasi-steady state temperature field in the matrix as well as the temperature profile of air streams. Frost formation, which constitutes a serious operational concern, can also be predicted. The results indicate the significance of the effect of both the system nonlinearity and the circumferential heat conduction on the thermal characteristics of the regenerator.
