Turbulent Flow over Square Ribs in an Open Channel
Краткое описание
This paper reports experimental study of turbulent flow over transverse square ribs in a converging open channel. The first half of the channel has straight parallel sidewalls. Each of the sidewalls of the second half of the test section converges at an angle α. Two values of α( α = 1° and 2°) were studied. For each α-value, transverse square ribs were fixed to the bottom walls both upstream and converging sections. The pitch-to-height ratio of the ribs was varied to achieve d-type, intermediate and k-type roughness. A particle image velocimetry was used to obtain detailed velocity measurements over the ribs both upstream and at various locations in the converging sections. The profiles of mean velocity and turbulent quantities were obtained to document the characteristics of turbulent flow over transverse ribs in a converging open channel.
