Краткое описание

Last year's accident at Three Mile Island and the many deliberations which followed have clearly heightened the need for inherent safety features that self-protect under emergency conditions. At the same time the accident at Three Mile Island have also heightened the public's general awareness relative to the potential for core meltdown or core disruptive accidents (CDAs) and the need to provide essentially complete containment of fission products in such cases.
The purpose of this presentation is to illustrate that the LMFBR can meet these needs so as to both assure adequate protection of capital investment and utility interest as well as achieving public acceptance of LMFBRs.
