Краткое описание

Swirling turbulent flow in a long straight circular pipe was investigated. The transport equations for the Reynolds stresses are closed by the second-moment turbulence model. The special attention was paid to the model of pressure-strain-rate correlation as the most dominated transport term, regarding the swirl flow with appreciable streamline curvature. It was found that the effects of complex strain fields are more correctly predicted using the Quasi-Isotropic model of turbulence part of pressure-strain-rate correlation, rather then tuning the model coefficients of the Isotropisation-of-Production model. The results of numerical calculations for the time-averaged velocities were successfully compared to the corresponding ones for some of the measuring series, obtained by experimental investigations of mean pressure and velocity fields in the pipe, which confirmed the applied calculation procedure.
