Аннотация

This paper presents the design procedure of a ducted contra-rotating axial flow fan and concentrates on the simulation of flow inside it. This study investigates parameters such as pressure ratio and efficiency in different operating points to obtain the most efficient running points. This axial flow fan is made of two rotors with outer diameters of 29 cm which rotate contrary to each other with independent nominal rotational speeds of 3000 and 3300 rpm respectively. The superiority of this system to the conventional rotor-stator fans is its higher efficiency and its compactness in length. NACA-65 airfoils are used for this analysis and necessary adjustments are employed to create efficient airfoil surfaces at each section. The design procedure includes inverse design method for the first rotor and geometric relations for the second one in order to have an axial inlet and outlet flow without using any inlet and outlet guide vanes. Free Vortex swirl distribution method is utilized to obtain characteristic parameters of this system and also to generate the 3D model. Then, the model is simulated in ANSYS CFX by employing H/J/C/L-Grid and k−ε turbulence model in steady state mode. Results reveal a slight over prediction for pressure ratio quantities in the design algorithm for both rotors. Nevertheless, both design algorithm and simulation analysis confirm the high anticipated efficiency for this system. Finally, the rotational speed of each rotor and the outlet static pressure of the system are changed consecutively to obtain the fan characteristics map.
