Краткое описание

A numerical study of the impingement of a turbulent jet issuing from a slot on the convex surface of a semi-cylinder is presented using the Fluent6 code. This complex flow can be divided into three regions, the free jet, the impingement region and the curved wall jet along the semi-cylinder surface. The present contribution deals with the heat transfer characteristics and flow dynamics of the jet on the curved wall and, in particular, the effect of streamline curvature on the turbulence. The performance of the two-equation k-ε model is evaluated by comparison of present work results with experimental data reported by Chan et al. [2002]. The calculated mean flow and turbulence characteristics and circumferential Nusselt number are examined in the various regions of the domain considered.
