Effects of high free-stream turbulence on a separated flow field over a two-dimensional hill
Краткое описание
Experimental investigation has been made on a separated flow field over a two-dimensional hill model with cosine-squared shape. In order to elucidate the effects of free-stream turbulence (FST) on the turbulent characteristics, an active turbulence generating grid (ATG) is installed at the inlet to the test section. By imposing the FST, the size of separation bubble formed behind the hill decreases. In spite of a nearly isotropic turbulence coming into the hill model, the reduction in a cross-correlation coefficient between horizontal and vertical velocity components recovers due to the strong turbulence production in the separated shear layer.
