Toxicity of 4-Tert-Octylphenol and Its Biodegradation by Microalgae of the Genus Microcystis (Cyanoprokaryota)
摘要
Toxic effect of 4-tert-octylphenol and its biodegradation by microalgae of the genus Microcystis Kutz. ex Lemmerm. belonging to water bloom-forming organisms were investigated. It has been found that algae of the genus Microcystis belonging to various species and strains differ in their sensitivity to octylphenol. It has been shown that during the process of the studied microalgae cultivation the content of octylphenol decreases mainly as a result of abiotic processes (photolysis and hydrolysis) and biodegradation and, to a lesser extent, as a result of pollutant sorption by algal cells. It is likely that intensive synthesis of exopolysaccharides by the non-toxic strain Microcystis aeruginosa HPDP-6 can be one of the reasons of a low degree of octylphenol biodegradation.
