摘要

Data on the content of the labile fraction of dissolved metals in surface water bodies located in different regions of the world are generalized in the paper. This fraction includes primarily free (hydrated) metal ions, their hydroxycomplexes, and complexes with inorganic ligands. This fraction can include some portion of metals in the composition of unstable complexes with organic ligands. The lability of metals can be considered as the main characteristics of their potential bioavailability. In turn, it depends on a set of processes occurring in aquatic ecosystems, including mainly hydrolysis, complexation involving dissolved organic matter (DOM), and adsorption on suspended matter and bottom sediments. Methodical approaches to the determination of the labile fraction of metals are discussed. It has been known that only some methods can be used for this purpose. The combined methods of its extraction and detection are often used. Data on the firmness of metal complexes with various groups of dissolved organic matter of surface waters responsible for the lability of metals are also generalized.
