BLUNTNESS EFFECT OF GAS-CONTRACTING WEDGES ON THE STARTING OF A GENERIC INLET
摘要
The bluntness effect of gas-compressing wedges on the flow in an air inlet is investigated. The inlet is of the internal compression type with flat walls and a rectangular cross section. The experiments were carried out in the UT-1M shock wind tunnel at Mach numbers M = 5 and 8 and at Reynolds numbers from Re∞L = 2.8 × 106 to 22 × 106. The flow characteristics were measured by panoramic optical methods. The data in relation to the influence of the leading edge bluntness radius of the wedges on the flow structure and the starting of an inlet were obtained at different Mach and Reynolds numbers as well as at different inlet-channel convergence ratios. The ambiguity of the flow regime in the air intake under certain conditions was found.
