Prevailing Species of Bacillariophyta of the Littoral Zone of Lake Baikal (Russia)
摘要
Taxonomic composition, quantitative and ecological peculiarities of prevailing species of diatoms were investigated at two transects from the littoral zone of Lake Baikal: on the western shore near Bolshiye Koty settlement and on the eastern shore near town Baikalsk. Twenty-eight species of diatoms prevailing in abundance were found in both sites; they are indicators of environment conditions. Biomass, data on inter-annual number and patterns of vertical distribution in the coastal zone were studied for each of key species. Long-term observations showed that difference in resistance of prevailing species of diatoms to environmental organic compounds resulting in their abundance may indicate different levels of trophity in studied areas of littoral. Analysis of quantitative parameters of representatives of diatoms of studied sites shows that xeno- and oligo-xenosaprobiont species prevail in the benthic community of the western shore; on the east coast o-β- and o-α-mesosaprobionts are more numerous.
