摘要

A mechanistic model for the transient evolution of two-phase interfacial area has been developed. A general balance equation for interfacial area is proposed and shown to be equivalent to a bubble number density transport equation. Models for bubble geometry evolution, bubble destruction and creation are proposed and described. The paper also describes the implementation and testing of FLOWR in a prototype version of CATHENA (Canadian Algorithm for THErmalhydraulic Network Analysis), a two-phase thermalhydraulic network code. Comparisons of experimental data and model predictions are given for bubbly flow in a horizontal pipe and an inlet header break experiment conducted at the RD-14 test facility located at Whiteshell.
