摘要

We present an overview of some actual issues and recent experimental studies of hydrodynamic cavitation relevant particularly to hydraulic machinery. After a brief review of various types of cavitation regimes and consequences on the reliable and safe operation of hydromachinery, we consider various methods for cavitation control and the related recent research. Potential and limitations of the modern non-intrusive techniques for studying flows of gas/vapor-liquid mixtures are discussed with a specific view on issues related to cavitation phenomena. The discussion is complemented with some recent achievements and results of the application of various optical methods and the data processing and error assessment, carried out over the last few years in the cavitation research facilities at the Kutateladze Institute of Thermophysics.
