Experimental unit from rather limited number of plate-and-fin interrupted heat transfer surfaces (PFTint HTS) with the wall thickness (of fins) δ = idem = 0.6·10−3 m of rectangular ducts and dissection value − (l/d)m = 1.30, slit − (h/u)m = 6.95 and a relative thickness of a fin 0.0580 ≤ (δ/d)i ≤ 0.1138 was tested in order to determine the influence of δ/d value on heat and aerodynamic performance of PFTint HTS. The assessment values (R')MAXRe'i=x =4400 = [(Nu / Nusm)']MAXRe'i=x=4400 = 2.78 of a rational enhancement process of convective heat transfer (RECH) were obtained, conditions of its realization being the following: Re'i = (0.6...1.4...4.4)·103; (δ/d)'i = 0.071...0.086...0.061. The range of assessment values of realizable processes RECH are the following: sm Rei idem (Nu / Nusm )'Re'i=idem = 2.11...2.28 in the interval of values (δ/d)'i = 0.071...0.086 and criteria Re'i = (0.6...1.4)·103; (Nu / Nusm )'Re'i=idem = 2.28...2.78 in the interval of values (δ/d)'i = 0.086...0.061 and criteria Re'i = (1.4...4.4)·103. The results of this experimental investigation were treated analytically from the point of view of suggested physical mechanism of RECH process realization in the tested PFTint HTS ducts in the conditions of laminar, converting and turbulent flows. Special-purpose preparations for the experiment made it possible to exclude the negative impact of a number of side factors on the results of the experiment.
