摘要

Simultaneous Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurements of stratified turbulent air-water flow in a horizontal pipe have been performed using water droplets as tracers in the gas-phase. The use of water droplets as tracers ensures that the water surface tension remains unaffected and thus allows capillary waves to occur naturally. Experiments have been conducted in a 31m long, 100mm diameter PVC pipe using air (density ~ 1.20kg/m3 and viscosity 18.4µPa · s) and water (density 996kg/m3 and viscosity 1.0mPa · s) as test fluids. Single-phase experiments of both air and water have been conducted in order to validate the experimental set-up including the use of water droplets as tracers. The air/water single-phase measurements have been compared to each other and to DNS results obtained by Wu et al.[10], showing satisfactory agreement. The two-phase measurements are presented in terms of mean- and rms-profiles and these show expected behavior under steady flow conditions and very interesting features at less steady flow conditions.
