ABSTRAKT

A short review of analytical solutions of the advection-diffusion equation is presented. A new turbulent parameterization for an operational model employing a two-dimensional analytical solution of the advection diffusion equation is proposed. The solution allows for variations in the wind and exchange coefficients with height. The cross-wind dispersion is simulated by a Gaussian term. The model can be considered a link between Gaussian and K numerical models under conditions of a height-structured atmospheric boundary layer. The performance of the model has been assessed using the Copenhagen and Prarie Grass data set.
