TRANSONIC CROSS FLOW (M = 0.8) OVER A CIRCULAR CYLINDER AT HIGH REYNOLDS NUMBERS

ABSTRAKT

On the basis of the Navier-Stokes and the Reynolds equations the numerical simulation of a transonic perfect gas cross flow over a circular cylinder with a thermally insulated surface at the Mach number M = 0.8 and the Reynolds numbers 103 ≤ Re ≤ 107 is performed. An effect of the Reynolds number on the structure of the flow field, the flow regime, and aerodynamic characteristics of the cylinder is demonstrated.
