INTERACTION OF SHOCK WAVES NEAR A CYLINDER PERPENDICULAR TO A BLUNT PLATE, PART II: HEAT TRANSFER ON A CYLINDER
ABSTRAKT
Experimental results of heat transfer investigation on front surface of a cylinder installed on a plate at some distance from its leading edge are presented. Experiments are carried out at M∞ = 5. We vary Reynolds number ReD from 1.3 × 105 to 5.1 × 105, bluntness radius of plate leading edge, and cylinder distance from leading edge.We determine heat-transfer coefficient peaks at both the end of the separation zone and for the bow shock wave from the blunt plate. We find that heat-transfer coefficient peak values in interference regions decrease with increases in plate bluntness and distance from cylinder to leading edge. Decreased Re yields a sudden decrease in maximum heat-transfer coefficient and its smoother distribution over cylinder generatrix, in comparison to plate in front of cylinder. The observed phenomena are explained by analyzing gas flow structure in interference regions.
