Advanced Course in Heat and Mass Transfer in Metallurgical Systems
Mathematical Modelling of Submerged Gas Jets
pages 349-372
ABSTRAKT
The results of an investigation into the mathematical modelling of the bubbling and jetting behaviour of gases injected into liquids are presented. With regard to gas envelope formulation, the factors affecting the size and rate of pulse generation are explained and a simple model is developed to account for the effects of heat transfer. A detailed approach to modelling the jet dispersion into the fluid is discussed using a two phase flow approach. The model includes the effects of the convective force at the tuyere, buoyancy and the interaction between the gas and the liquid.
