PATTERN CHARACTERISTICS OF DISPERSED ANTENNA ARRAYS
ABSTRACT
Antenna patterns, directivity gain (DG) and scattering coefficient of an equidistant linear array are calculated and their dependencies upon a number of emitters and the range between them are analyzed. It is demonstrated that for each number of emitters there exists an optimal antenna length equal to L ≈ 0.9(N − 1) , at which the DG maximum maximorum is attained. At a larger length of the antenna or with increasing of the operation frequency the value of DG is varied under the oscillating laws. As this takes place, the difference between maximums and minimums is the larger, the more is the number of emitters. At a small number of emitters (N ≤ 8) the pattern characteristics of the array are higher than those of a continuous antenna having the same electrical length, while at N ≥ 16 their characteristics form practically a match.
