ABSTRACT

Wear processes of different kind play an important role in energy plants and equipments. Mathematical models could help in estimating life times and availabilities of components and plants. This modelling is complicated because systems consisting of basic bodies, counter bodies and intermediate layers belong to it. Therefore combinations of heuristic concepts, dimensional analysis and mathematical models seem to be effective. Among the mathematical models integro-differential equations for the time lapses and stochastic fields for the contacting rough surfaces are especially interesting. Altogether concepts of an expert system of wear mechanisms and life time estimations are visible.
