Broadband Matching of the Rectangular Waveguide to a Transverse Dielectric Insert
SINOPSIS
The problem of matching the rectangular waveguide to a thin dielectric layer over a wide frequency range is treated with the aim of optimizing vacuum windows of microwave devices. The effect of wave scattering by such a layer (with the irregularities introduced to compensate for its reactance) is analyzed in a rigorous formulation. The matching efficiency is compared for a variety of compensating elements, including strip- and step-like, with longitudinal and transverse symmetry, etc. The effect of imperfections is analyzed.
