SINOPSIS

The peculiarities of the accumulation of ⁹⁰Sr and ¹³⁷Cs by higher aquatic plants of the Kiev Reservoir since 1991 until 2008 are analyzed in the paper. The specific activity of both radionuclides decreased. However, in recent years the specific activity of ¹³⁷Cs decreased more rapidly than that of ⁹⁰Sr, as a result of which the ratio between ⁹⁰Sr and ¹³⁷Cs increased. The right bank section of the Kiev Reservoir is more contaminated by ⁹⁰Sr and ¹³⁷Cs than its left bank section.
