Heat and Fluid Flow within a Heterogeneous Porous Medium: Parallel Plate Channel with Isoflux Walls
SINOPSIS
The effects of variation of permeability and thermal conductivity (continuous in the transverse direction) on fully developed forced convection in a parallel plate channel filled with a saturated porous medium is investigated numerically on the basis of the Darcy or Dupuit-Forchheimer models. The case of isoflux boundary is considered. The present numerical solution has the required flexibility (unlike the previous asymptotic solutions in the open literature) to let us undertake any linear continuous variation. The results demonstrate that if the permeability near the walls is higher than its average it leads to an increase in the Nusselt number while similar variation in thermal conductivity leads to a decrease in the Nusselt number.
