EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF BOUNDARY LAYER STATE ON THE SURFACE OF HIGH-SPEED TEST VEHICLE MODEL
SINOPSIS
Presented are the results of investigations of the boundary layer state on the surface of a highspeed test vehicle model designed for high-speed test flight within the High Speed Experimental Fly Vehicles–International Project of the 7th Framework European Union Program aimed at the development of a transcontinental civil aircraft. The investigations were carried out in the T-116 wind tunnel at TsAGI. The boundary layer state on the streamlined surface was determined by a known unsteady thermal method of measuring the local heat transfer coefficients and their subsequent anchoring with correlation (empirical) curves. In a number of cases, the existence of a laminar boundary layer was established. The influence of the flow regime (angle of attack = 0–12°, Mach number = 4–8, and a wide range of high Reynolds numbers) and the shape of the turbulence stimulators on the boundary layer state, including the laminar–turbulent transition, were studied.
