METHODOLOGY FOR TURBOMACHINERY NOISE ANALYSIS BASED ON A NUMERICAL MODEL OF PROPAGATION
SINOPSIS
A technique is proposed for turbomachinery noise analysis in terms of acoustic modes. The technique is based on the numerical model of sound propagation in a turbomachine duct, which uses the solution of the linearized Euler equations by means of high-order finite-difference schemes. The application of numerical methods for modal analysis allows us to account for an irregular form of a turbomachine duct, for a non-uniform flow field inside the duct, and for complex wave effects at the end of the duct. The cross spectra are used in the proposed technique for processing of the experimental data in order to decrease the influence of the uncorrelated noise on the quality of the determination of a turbomachine modal composition. The testing of the proposed method was performed by means of numerically simulated signals.
