SINOPSIS

The results of studies on taxonomic composition, quantity, biomass, and production of Cyanophyta representatives from small water bodies of East Siberia are presented. Both small, well-warmed up lakes and rich expansions of rivers, and mountain lakes of the region were investigated. Peculiarities in species composition of Cyanophyta from natural water bodies of different types were revealed in studies of phytoplankton from Bereshskoye water bodies. The analysis of original data and those from the literature has permitted us to distinguish two complexes of blue-green algae: summer and winter. It was established that the intensive development of Cyanophyta in water bodies of East Siberia caused water “bloom” and worsened its quality. The most abundant species of Siberian water bodies are revealed: Anabaena flos-aquae, A. lemmermannii, A. spiroides, Aphanothece clathrata, Aphanizomenonflos-aquae, Cyanonephron styloides, Microcystis aeruginosa, and M. pulverea.
