SINOPSIS

This work aims to characterize the effects of forced acoustic waves onto a weakly turbulent premixed methane/air flame. The experimental characterization is performed by using synchronized PIV and PLIF techniques. In particular, the PLIF is based on the OH* radical emission. At first, the flow induced by the synthetic jet associated to the forced acoustic waves is characterized by means of PIV, taking the mixture feeding system turned off. Then, the interaction between the forced acoustics and combustion is examined and characterized in terms of macroscopic effects, such as velocity and vorticity fields, mixing and combustion efficiency.
