RÉSUMÉ

Cerebral stroke causes a significant deterioration of the patient’s functioning and a worsening of her/his quality of life (QoL). Disability caused by stroke is common problem in all countries. The main aim of rehabilitation is to regain independence and to improve the QoL. Contemporary possibilities for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke have been published previously. In this review article, outcome measures for treatment and rehabilitation post-stroke are described, and an overview of the assessment of QoL post-stroke are presented. Special attention is given to QoL as an indicator of the effectiveness of post-stroke rehabilitation.
