RÉSUMÉ

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of preoperative rehabilitation post-total knee arthroplasty (TKA). A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, Cochrane Library, Science Direct, Google Scholar, and PEDro from January 2012 to June 2022. Two reviewers independently screened all retrieved studies for inclusion. Full text for all the potentially relevant studies was obtained for data extraction. Any disagreement between the two authors was discussed and resolved. A total of 309 articles were found; after removing duplicates, 286 studies remained. Abstracts were examined, revealing that 275 studies did not meet the eligibility criteria, leaving 11 articles for inclusion. We conclude that prehabilitation improves outcomes for TKA patients and should be used as an adjunct to rehabilitation post-TKA. More primary investigations are needed to support these findings and determine the long-term impact of prehabilitation.
