EFFECTS OF SINGLE AND DOUBLE STREAMS OF DROPLET IMPINGEMENTS ON SURFACE COOLING
ABSTRACT
This paper explores the effects of high-frequency impinging droplets on surface cooling. A single stream of impinging droplets at different impact angles was studied by measuring the surface temperature distribution and characterizing the impact crater morphology under different heat flux conditions. Film thickness inside the droplet impact craters was measured to understand the relationship between film thickness and impact angle. Additionally, double streams of impinging droplets at different impact spacings and impact angles were investigated. The optimum spacing between adjacent droplet streams was found to reduce droplet-to-droplet collision and splashing, resulting in enhanced heat transfer and better use of the cooling fluid.
