ESTIMATION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC SHIELDING EFFICIENCY

The main approaches to estimate the electromagnetic shielding efficiency are considered in this article. We propose to estimate a shielding efficiency in terms of the depth of field penetration into the conductor material. Mathematical modeling and simulation of electromagnetic field penetration into a conductor depending on the operating frequency and properties of the conductor material is carried out, as well as experimental verification of the results obtained. Estimating the shielding efficiency by the depth of field penetration into the shield material, in contrast to known standard techniques, allows avoiding errors associated with conversion of the electric current into the field strength behind the screen. The results are useful for electromagnetic screens design for numerous applications including microelectronics.
