Diatom Fouling of the Little Picked Whales in the Antarctic Waters
要約
The diatom fouling of the Minke whales (little picked whales) in Antarctica have been studied. It was established that the dominant species was Bennettella ceticola (Nelson ex Bennett) Hîlmes, accompanied by Grammatophora marina (Lyngb.) Kütz., Fragilariopsis kerguelensis (O'Meara) Hust. and Nitzschia media Hant. The quantitative characteristics (numbers and biomass) of the diatom films on the whales' skin were determined.
