This paper deals with the laminar MHD flow and heat transfer of an electrically conducting viscous fluid over a stretching cylinder in the presence of thermal radiation through a porous medium. The governing nonlinear partial differential equations are transformed into a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations by employing similarity transformations. This system is then solved numerically using the Keller box method and analytically using the perturbation method. The influence of various involved parameters on the velocity and temperature distributions is discussed through graphs and tables. A comparison of the present results with the existing ones is given by taking the combined parameter λ = M and k0 → 1, which was found to be in good agreement.
