STABILITY AND DYNAMIC DEVELOPMENT OF METHANE-ENRICHED LOW CALORIFIC VALUE GAS FLAMES
要約
Low Calorific Value (LCV) gases resulting from the gasification of biomass have poor combustion properties. Upgrading the quality with natural gas addition appears to be a clean way to render LCV gas fuels industrially viable. In that respect, the stability of methane-enriched LCV gas fuel diffusion flames is investigated with regard to liftoff and blowout. It is found that high content LCV gas mixture flames have weak stability properties with high liftoff heights and a tendency to direct blowout without going through lifting when the nozzle diameter decreases. The increasing stoichiometric mixture fraction of the LCV rich mixtures appears to be responsible for the strong flame front-shear layer interaction preventing adequate mixing for flame propagation.
