Lipid-carotenoid metabolism in cells of Dunaliella Teod. under various conditions of cultivation
要約
The content of carotenoids and neutral lipids in cells of two species of microalgae of the genus Dunaliella Teod. is influenced the process of their cultivation from the 4th to the 24th day of growth and also in the initial concentration of cells, lighting, and temperature on carotenogenesis and lipogenesis have been investigated. It is shown (hat under standard conditions of cultivation (illumination 6 klx, temperature 25-27 °С, initial concentration of cells - 1.3 mln/mL) the content of b-carotene and neutral lipids (nonesterified fatty acids, triacylglycerides, steroids) was 1.5-2 times as high in cells of D. salina Teod. as in those of D. viridis Teod. In the process of algal cultivation under accumulative conditions the content of carotenoids may vary either rhythmically or remain at the same level; the character of these changes is determined by the initial level of the carotenoid content in cells. The complex variations of cultivation conditions (an increase of the temperature up to 38-40 °C, illumination up to 8 klx, initial concentration of cells up to 5-10 mln/mL) was accompanied by the growth of the content of b-carotene by 2-3 times, nonesterified fatty acids by 2-4 times, triacylglycerides and steroids by 2-3 times. In this case, the species differences between D. salina and D. viridis according to these indices were not observed, contrary to standard conditions of cultivation.
