要約

An evaluation of various low Reynolds number k-ε turbulence models for predicting heat transfer rates on turbine blades with special emphasis on the transitional flow phenomena is presented. The basic characteristics of the models are outlined in computing flat plate flows at different turbulence levels. The effects of the starting location and the initial profiles for k and ε are investigated. It is found that the influence of both starting location and initial profiles on transition can be reduced by shifting the starting point towards lower monemtum thickness Reynolds numbers. However, the predicted character of transition and laminar flow is significantly affected by this shift. The comparison of computed and experimental heat transfer rates of different turbine blades indicates that none of the models are capable of describing the laminar-turbulent transition with sufficient accuracy.
