要約

The deployment of a safe, reliable, and financially economical Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) chain requires detailed consideration to be made of the risks associated with CO2 pipeline transportation. As the accidental release of CO2 is one such risk, the accurate modelling of the discharge from pipelines and their decompression is required for their safe design. During the depressurisation of dense-phase CO2 the fluid begins to change phase, a process which ultimately governs the remaining flow. This work presents the coupling of two two-phase flow models, which when combined are capable of predicting the transition between single to twophase flow, and important effects of non-equilibrium inter-phase heat and mass transfer. The combined model is then applied to simulate the decompression of a full-scale pipeline and the predictions are compared with available experimental data. It is found that the model is capable of accurately predicting such a high speed transient flow.
