Basic Physical Properties of Nonsinusoidal Radio Wave Interaction with Stratified Lossy Dielectrics
RESUMO
A mathematical model of nonsinusoidal EM wave diffraction by stratified lossy dielectric structures has been developed. A computational algorithm has been constructed to investigate numerically the physical characteristics of the diffracted fields with the use of the normal impedance technique in the frequency-domain and Discrete Fourier Transformation for transferring the solution to the time domain. General properties of the diffracted fields have been investigated for various conditions, and the suitability of video-pulses for subsurface sounding demonstrated. The restrictions on the probe pulse lengths have been established with account of specific properties of the frequency-dependent conductivities of natural media.
