RESUMO

The present study examines the influence of the magnetic field on the forced convective flow of a Newtonian fluid through a channel partially filled with the porous medium, assuming that channel walls are subjected to constant wall heat flux. It is also assumed that there is a porous region of equal thickness adjacent to each wall of the channel, and that flow in the porous region is governed by Brinkman extended non-Darcy flow and by Poiseuille flow in the fluid region. In view of the fully developed nature of the flow and thermal fields, the relevant partial differential equations have been reduced to linear ordinary differential equations and hence solved analytically. Effects of the parameters Darcy number (Da), porous fraction (γp), and the Hartmann number (M) on the velocity, the skin friction coefficient, temperature, Nusselt number, and net change in Nusselt number (ΔNuM) are discussed. Nusselt number and net change in Nusselt number (ΔNuM) increase with the Hartmann number (M).
