RESUMO

At present, most of the oil reservoirs are developed by a water-injection method. One of the existing problems is that a preferential seepage channel was easy to form in the process of water injection. As a result, the sweep volume was decreased and, consequently, the oil displacement efficiency was brought down as well. To solve the problem, the weak gel was introduced in the enhanced oil recovery (EOR), because the weak gel could effectively control water injection profile, but the weak gel's mobility in porous media was not yet clear. In this paper, the typical seepage characteristics of a weak gel in porous media are studied by using a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technique with displacement experiment. The results of the experiments show that the NMR T2 spectra and images could be used effectively to characterize the distribution, migration, and sealing properties of a weak gel in the core. The weak gel was distributed mainly in the medium-size and large pores at the front end of the core, with a lower triangular shape in the process of injection, and this shape had little change in the process of waiting on cement (WOC). The cemented weak gel could effectively block the preferential seepage channel to improve the water flooding volume, obviously, and particularly, it migrated as a whole in the next water flooding and was driven out of the core gradually. At last, a little volume of weak gel was detained in the medium-size pores of the other end of the core.
